September - October 2014, Adelaide Town Hall & Art Pod
Oscar Wilde declared ‘illusion is the first of all pleasures’. Emma Hack's exhibition Eden featured works from throughout the artist’s long-term practice in the art of trompe l’oeil, as well as exciting new works. Large scale collage, sculpture, textiles and lenticular works draw audiences into Hack’s world of pleasure and utopian joy. Both Adelaide Town Hall and Art Pod became surrealist escapes from reality - magical places where beautiful, concealed bodies emerge and recede from elaborate floral motifs. Hack's lush decorative images play with illusion and pleasure are also concerned with environmental stewardship. Emma Hack is represented throughout Australia, as well in London, New York, Hong Kong and Singapore. |
